The problem with products designated to be pg-13 or higher is that they don't appear in our store galleries, so they never or rarely sell. I can't even provide a link when I post them on twitter or facebook, and they don't even show up on my account product page when I edit a category. I believe a lot of potential sales are lost because of this. If Zazzle used a plain background inscribed with adult content, giving a disclaimer and asking the customer to click a box saying they are 18 and aware of the content, then the product could still be found in our stores and ultimately viewed and purchased. I don't have pornographic or tasteless products, but a few do have some with mild language...both for emphasis and/or humor. Yet, they are still very good designs and potentially profitable if they had a better opportunity for success.

You could also do what I and some others have done. Make a separate section for your PG-13 and over items. Like this http://www.zazzle.es/gothictoggs/gifts?cg=196424385114964291That way your customers know that you offer them and that they must change their settings if they wish to view them.

You can send outside traffic directly to PG-13 and R rated content, it's just not browsable in stores without changing your content levels. It's been that way for years, and accounts for a significant amount of revenue for our affiliate networks.
