OK, now that i finally understand the templates... i went and made a second set, in another category, based on the first set but with an additional line of text. NOW, when i go to choose my original templates in QC, i get a message saying:
"No template fields found. If you have just created templates for this category, you may have to wait 10-15 minutes for them to appear."
i'm am truly at my wit's end, especially after yesterday and trying to figure these templates out.
what the heck is going on?

not sure the originals should be where you left them - there have been some buggy issues in Z today - not sure if thats one of them...you should report it to zazzle using the contact form at the bottom - and explain in detail how the section was being used before as a template in quick create and now today it is no longer working...include section links and all

On this topic although slightly unrelated - Can you create QC templates for products that are not offered in QC? Like could I create a hoodie and add it to my QC template?
I've been trying to find the option for it but I can't make a QC template when I go in through regular create...
and FCAC - I am close to Frederick, MD. We live about 15 mins south of the city. Great job supporting the local rescue. We helped with a rescue for horses a while back.

And while Shop can't add shoes, I can. So don't give up on the shoes if you want them. No idea why it doesn't work for Shop. Worst that would happen is that it won't work for you. A quick create template is not a special template. It is just a set of regular template products where the fields match from one product to the next. If there are three images then every product will have one layer labeled imageone, another labled imagetwo and a third labled imagethree etc - any names will do as long as they match. I use middle, bottom and top. http://www.zazzle.es/dogplay/gifts?cg=196918733643729230

I dunno either. I've done it in most of my shops. I always do it as a "real" product for sale that just happens to have the template fields. *shrug* computers - what can you say.
LOL - maybe your prolific production scares 'em.

I just created two templates for shoes for my new shop--have not used them yet so I will let you know if it works for me . It seems if you can do them for stamps you should be able to do them for shoes but who knows.

Everything except embriodery?!?!
My mouth is watering at the possibilities!!!
(and the fact that I won't have to spend 8 million hours working on uploading each design!!)
Most of my designs are single images anyway (although I'm starting to put text fields on for customization). I created one for square images and one for rectangular images and eventually will do one for round images as well

I have read many of your wonderful tutorials, many thanks for posting! I didn't realize all you had to do was create a template in the same category and it would add to QC, I thought the templates had to be created specifically for QC, which you can only do in QC. I built one a little while ago. I'm waiting for Zazzle to approve it, then I'll test it.

I created one for square images and one for rectangular images and eventually will do one for round images as well Here is the cool thing. If you have a series of related designs, where it is appropriate to use the same tags and descriptions, but they are different shapes, you can do it like this Start QC, navigate to first set of templates, apply image, click next, first group of products appear Click create more, navigate to second set of templates, apply image, click next, second group of products appear Click create more, navigate to third set of templates, apply image, click next, third group of products appear Then continue as normal I do this with shoes where I might not want to apply exactly the same image to all panels. When I want a prompt for each shoe piece then I have to separate the shoes into sets where they have the same number of panels. But since the design is still essentially the same it is appropriate to create them as a group. (If I don't need a prompt for each panel, if I'm using a pattern, I can just name all the panels the same url parameter, put them in just one folder and poof a properly designed shoe.) I also do it with products that need significantly different shapes.

also if you have say 10 football designs ina row to add you can go tot he template section (if it is hidden) and change the tags to generic football tags....that will carry thru to the QC page...then yu just need to add the extra tags for the specific design
edit to add....dogplay maybe i need to put my shoe template in a separate folder and see if that works...

A bit off topic to the OP, but it might be helpful for getting templates to work when they include shoes... I've found shoes to be temperamental in QC. Sometimes only 4 or 5 shoes out of 7 will work in QC, when there is no difference in the way they were made. If you customize the few shoes that didn't work to re-make them, ensure the template settings are correct and delete the originals that didn't work, you usually get more working. I just keep trying until QC works for all 7, and then (touch wood) it seems to stay that way. Can take days though, waiting for them to turn up in the marketplace! If there is something missing from a template when I load QC. (ie. I was expecting 30 items and 29 turned up.) First thing I do is count the shoes! Try putting a clear 10px x 10px image (or similar) on each panel if there is no other design on it. Seems to help sometimes. Other than that, on a shoe template, I always select "fit" don't know if that makes a difference or not but might be worth a try. Hope it works for you soon Edit: Selecting 'Fit' on shoe panel templates also seems to help stop images jumping around. For example if you place a large image on a shoe panel, and enlarge it to show only a part of the image on the shoe, sometimes if a customer clicks 'customize' the image can jump and not be anywhere near where you left it. Choosing 'Fit' seems to help prevent that.
